T.R. Knight Leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

T.R. Knight is so upset over how the “faggot” controversy has been handled that he’s ready to quit “Grey’s Anatomy,” reports Jeannette Walls.

Is T.R. Knight about to exit “Grey’s Anatomy”?

The actor was the subject of a widely-publicized homophobic slur by a cast mate and he “is so upset about the situation and so disgusted by how it was all handled,” that he’s planning to leave the show, says a source.

“He was told not to say anything about the whole incident,” says the insider, referring to an on-set dust up in October when fellow cast member Isaiah Washington referred to Knight, who plays Dr. George O’Malley, with a derogatory word used to describe gay men.

“He kept his word, but then the whole thing blew up again at the Golden Globes, and when he was asked about it, he basically called Isaiah a liar,” says the source. “He feels that the atmosphere there is so toxic and unhealthy. I suppose things could change and we would stay, but for now, he’s planning to leave the show.”

George is probably my least favorite of the regular characters, so his leaving wouldn’t bother me much. It would be odd, though, if the one that left the show after this mess was the guy who was the victim.

Sometimes it is the victim who ends up leaving rather than fight the machine.

At my old job, I was harassed by one of our clients, but because they were such big clients and because the person who did the harassing was a highly-paid on-air TV personality, my company decided not to pursue the issue. I was already looking for a new job anyway, so I simply broadened my net and reeled in a $6000 raise, better benefits (although vacation time accrues more slowly), better hours, less responsibility, and a more fun place to work.

And now that same person is harassing my replacement. For me, it’s because she thought I “consumed massive amounts of food” while on the job. For him, it’s either that he’s gay or that he smokes (I’m betting on the former). If he makes an issue of it, I’ll totally back him up.

But like I said, sometimes there’s benefit in leaving.

The little bastard sexually harassed Washington every sneaky chance he got. And, then went on Ellen in full “pathetic George” persona and Washington still has not come forward about the ordeal.

I think T. R. Knight is beyond pathetic and juvenile. He reminded me of a little kid tattling to the teacher on Ellen. I don’t see why an adult couldn’t have dealt with Washington personally and professionally, rather than cowardly throwing Washington to this P.C. lynch mob.

Moreover, all we really know is that Washington is being shpped off to rehab for something he was rumoured to have said and then paraphrased later in a denial. Doesn’t get much more 1984 than that.
