I think it’s interesting to see how this is not getting more attention in the mainstream press. If Entertainment Weekly doesn’t carry this, it will be shocking. Then again, a lot of mainstream mags are bought and paid for by advertising from the major studios.

It’s been pretty much common knowledge within the industry that Travolta is g-g-g-gay. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with him staying in the closet to protect his career either. It’s all a matter of personal choice and his right to privacy. Not everybody needs to be a role model. Some of us just want to be working actors with the same opportunities afforded to our hetero colleagues.

It is worth noting, however, that a star of Travolta’s magnitude — an A-lister who’s always been thought of as a bit of a lady’s man — could have a pretty profound impact on societal attitutes toward the gay community. Sadly, given the current state of Hollywood (and the small minds of those who run it), it also means certain death to those actors’ careers.

My guess is that someday when Travolta is a 70 something year old man and retired in hollywood; he will admit his homosexuality and his marriage to Kelly Preston a sham. That “kiss” to his kid’s nanny was NOT a same greeting to female and male friends alike, it was a snatched moment for a male lover caught unexpectedly on camera. What matters for us poor little human animals, is that we respect one another and recognise that if we are forced to live together, we have to understand that behaviour that does not damage others, the individual herself, or the environment as a whole, should concern us little.

But that’s not the case. Religious people, primarily, target those that “don’t believe” or are “different” than what they believe or who they are. Their attacks can be both verbal and physical and help to encourage others to discriminate against them. It’s ironic that the very segment of society that claims to “love god” and be “good people” are usually the bottom of the barrel when it comes to morals.

Lastly, if you have something worthy to state, then state it. It’s of little interest to anyone if you criticise another’s post with nothing to offer yourself. Ugh.
